Im going through a massive binge of jazz fusion at the moment, Miles Davis post Bitches Brew, as well as the first two Mahavishnu Orchestra albums and some Weather Report.

Can someone help me with jazz terminology as to sub-genres, possibly using Miles Davis albums as examples? I am not sure of the difference between bop, hard-bop, modal and this kind of thing. It would help me find other stuff I like more easily.

Definately the Dexter Gordon.

Then of course progressive jazz would require some Weather Report.

I love this album. I can be used to test the positioning of instruments and the music is soothing. It is like you listen them in a jazz bar...

I just got John Coltranes A Love Supreme as well as Miles Davis Kind of Blue.

Can anyone here make other suggestions of great jazz albums? Never knew I would like jazz but in fact Im enjoying it quite a bit.
